2009 Winter league Round 2 Preview
Ballinascorney Forest, Sunday 25th January 2009

The second round of the Irish Winter League will take place on Sunday 25th of January, two weeks after the first round at Moneyscalp. This is a location which was used over 10 years ago to host races and has now been rediscovered. It is Ballinascorney Forest. Since October the track has been under construction by 6 people virtually every weekend. It is brand new line, top to bottom and is said to be an unreal track by outside parties!

Track Description

Straight from the start into a small double followed by a stepdown into a large open landing. On the gas down a fast section of forest into a long right hander then into a right left switch back berms. On to a slight off camber then cross the fire road, hit a large table top over a grass bank. Here you will come to the first off 3 steep chutes. Down this into a banked rooty right hander then hit another lip which shoots you onto either the fast high line or the low line. Up into a bus stop and out again. On the gas to the run up to the big left hander hip, land this and get caught by a big right handed berm. You then drop down the second steep chute which takes you into the forest gully section. Around a very rooty right hander and then along the run in for the final chute which has a large open line or a slightly faster one over the roots between the trees. Continue on around a drifty high left hander followed by a right then over a large pumper in to a double. Land this into another off camber section which is the run up to the big drop. Land the 8 foot drop on to the large lander flat out into the Maribor section. This takes you quickly through a series of big left and right handed berms. Make your way towards the step up. Then down through the trees into the finish arena and hit a 20 foot booter into a massive landing followed by two drifty turns to the finish line.
All jumps and drops have chicken runs.

Parking
The forest gate will be open on Sunday only for parking. There is a large area at the off the end of the track for parking. You are asked to watch over your valuables and keep your cars locked. Mini bikes or quads are not permitted by the forest owners and we kindly ask you to take all rubbish home!

absolutely fantastic job boys, great course and great event. You should be well proud of yourselves. Nice one, I'm absolutely stunned by the effort that went into the track and as an old timer I'm indebted to you guys for reopening a brilliant venue, McGuire start building an XC course up there or i'll come around to your house and start singing " my way" in the nip, in your front garden.
