Group set swap over
« on: February 13, 2019, 09:50:53 AM »
I've got a Shram 1x11 NX boost with the XL cranks on my Commensal long travel bike, fancy upgrading to the largest 1x12 Shram Egeal NX as there some good offers on that set for about 200€ at the moment. But my questions is would the 1x11 NX fit on my older hard trail its a 2014 27.5 Giant Talon in an XL frame and crank size, be keen to make use of it on my hardtail rather than the 1x11 going to waste or selling it for peanuts.

I'd be looking to bring it into a good bike shop (prob bikeology) to do the swap most likely, anyone knows much about this new drive train to older machine type stuff. Been using Stag Cycles in Lucan for a lot of my bike maintenance and they are not big on MTB stuff so didn't have much advice.

My Bikes:
Enduro:
Commencal Meta Am 4.2

CX:
Planet X XLS SRAM Rival 1 Cyclocross Bike

I’m not aware of any restrictions other than what capacity cassette your wheel can accommodate, cant see an issue changing crank over.
As John said Harmo will sort you out.
