Play between crank + bb
« on: July 08, 2015, 07:02:43 PM »
Hey lads,
My commuter bike has developed play between the crank and BB. I took off the driveside arm, cleaned the surfaces and put it back on, but still get the same play. Any ideas on things to try?

Have had bike since December, about 2400km done on it so far.

Cheers! ;D

New bottom bracket has sorted that for me before

I think you got good value out of the bottom bracket with 2400km on it..!  Replacement should sort it

I'd say BB also.

You'll actually feel play on the RHS too if it is, even if only on the left cup. That will rule out a crank spindle problem if you are worried about that.

Left cups whether BSA or press fit seem to go quicker as the tightness of left crank determines pre-load on bearing. Too much = shorter life.
