***Attention Riders, Trail Warning***
« on: May 16, 2014, 07:08:33 PM »
I know alot of yous IMBRC boys ride a fair bit up by the Hell Fire so I said I'd post this up for your information.

Warning regarding "Carthys Kicker".... Up by the Hell Fire Club.
I was descending and to my horror noticed a single line of Barb-Wire acrooss the Trail, barely got her stopped in time thank god !!
I don't suspect it to be sabotage, possibly put up by the Farmer so maybe he's fed up with Riders accessing his land.
Anyway look out for it and be Careful.

Thanks for the info Sean

Paul sure didn't you chat with the farmer recently and he was okay with us ridding up there ?

Yeah i spoke to him a couple of months back and he was more than happy for us to access his land.

Did this look malicious Sean or just lying there from work he might be doing?

There has always been a little bit of barbed wire at the bottom of the very first descent, is it this one?
I was hoping to go there next week and take back my KOM :'(

I think I'd better flag it as hazardous now considering this new information

WARNING Cartys kicker
Folks myself and Ryan were out on a spin this eve and on our way back home we were coming down cartys kicker and just at the end I came to a complete stop with the help of some barbed wire.
Needless to say this is quite serious and people should be careful in that area until we get to the bottom of it. I spoke to the farmer who new nothing about it and said he would keep an eye out for anyone setting up such traps.
I'm not sure of the damage caused yet but it does not look to good at the minute one arm is quite badly torn up and difficult to move right now.
The barbwire is fixed quite well and I couldnt remove it with what I had available but I did manage to stretch it to the ground and put some branches on it so it can be seen until I get back up tomorrow to remove it.
Be carefull out there

I went up the Hell Fire via the road so did not climb Carthys Kicker.
It was when I was descending the Fence descent and onto  Carthys Kicker. The Barb-Wire was positioned about 10' before the little left turn as you descend. It was about 3' off the ground across the full width of the Trail, so will do damage to any Rider ! Looked like it was put up proper too.
I had no leatherman on me or anything like to have a go at taking it down.
I don't know maybe touch base with him Paul and mention it to him and take it from there.
