Hey John, I've been using The new type conti mud king tyres on both bikes since october last year
An find them a great all round tyre, maybe a bit giddy on loose gravel but apart from that they're ok for me.
Maxxis ignitors are supposed to be the business too, worth a look. ;)

I've a set of ignitors on the bike. Savage grip in the wet and roll well. Good tyre for the dry too. Only problem, the 2.2 tyre is kinda small but not a big deal as I haven't punctured yet!

I would second the Ignitors, I have a set of 2.3's and they are probably really only 2.2. which is a great all round do it all size  :)
They dont roll as well as Ignitors but last a hell of a lot longer.

I use nobbly nics evo 2.1 all year round, i find them pretty good... tubeless version only, i have the tubed version and its a harder compound which are useless.!

Also i have hutchinson toro 2.1 tubless on the race bike the last few years, very good all round tyre and hard wearing too.

If you do a lot of miles on the road have a look at Specialized Captains 2Bliss 2.0s.
I use a S-Works version on front and the Control on rear.
