An update on the Bellurgan 12 hour solo/ team relay xc mountain bike race.
A video showing a sample of the singletrack being used can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUdDYp_r87A with full laps taking roughly 1 hour, most of which is singletrack through the forest in the Belurgan Estate.
Sponsorship:
Niall Clarke Oils have come onboard to sponsor the category prizes.  We will also have free Lucozade and Kellogs products on the day to help keep ye going and getting those laps in.
As mentioned already, camping is available on Friday and Saturday, with cooking facilities and hot showers. Pit area’s will also be given to each team at the start finish area.

Hi folks,
Just some updates in the run up to the race Saturday week (August 7th).

Start Time
The start has been brought forward to 8am, meaning racing from 8am until 8pm. It was getting a bit too dark in some sections to get to enjoy the last lap.

New Sponsor
Revolution Cycles in Newry are supporting us – providing jerseys for category winners (http://www.revolutionbikestore.com/wp/)

Course Open Day
The course will be open from 10am till 3pm Sunday the 1st August. Take the Carlingford exit off the M1. Head for Carlingford. Over the Flurry River (brown sign) past the 80k speed sign. The road narrows and there are trees on your left. There will be a MTB XC sign at white gates. Turn in there.

Some new sections of singletrack have been cut and surfaced (with the contents of a full rigid lorrys worth of stone) so as to make sure the climbs are still possible regardless of the weather. These new sections mean the course avoids the MX track at the start of the loop.

Team Finder
If you are having difficulties finding a team or have had somene let you down,  please let us know. We will mix and match on friday night, let us know in advance if there is a possibility.
We have had people contact us looking for a team. tonyk@jadeindustrial.ie

Bike Wash
We will have a hose available for people to use for washing their bike during the course of the race.

More information is available on the race website at
http://twelvehourmountainbikerace.wordpress.com/
Sign-on is at http://www.runireland.com/events/2010-08-07/bellurgan-park-12-hour-mtb-xc-race
Sign-on closes on August 4th (this coming Wednesday).

See ye on the day!
