Cycling Ireland’s High Performance Unit will work with the MTB Commission and MTB managers and coaches to identify and establish development MTB squads in XC and DH during the spring of 2010. This process will include the identification of MTB athletes who can attain and have the potential to reach HP Elite level. More information and an invitation to a testing/identification/training camp will be on the Cycling Ireland webiste later this month. To set the process in motion MTB riders of any discipline who are interested and have the ambition to achieve Eilte level and represent Ireland at major championships should complete the form below and email it to Bev Chamberlain ( bev@cyclingireland.ie). http://www.cyclingireland.ieMTB XC-DH Development Application Form

A few guys should be applying for this. If you're not in you can't win. Emphasis on development! You don't need to be racing Elites yet in fact I'd say it would almost be a disadvantage. Do't forget the Masters euros coming up etc.

Shane, you should apply for this... Kev was only saying this to me the other day...!
Your getting better and faster all the time and getting onto the development squad would help progress you towards being a top junior..!

No no, you cant win if your not in. Id say going on past teams they will select a bunch of riders and bring them out for a training/testing/check you out spin, you can then show them what youve got. Put down whatever your placings in races were, dont worry about it.

Give it a go, you have to start somewhere. Worst case scenario they know about you for next year but my understanding is that they are looking for development riders particularly at Junior level. Nothing to lose and everything to gain.
