Jesus, that came out of left field!  Fantastic news.  Time to get training....  What do we need to do to qualify?

Well done to all involved.

This is going to be a massive event.   Around a thousand people enter the World Masters Champs so the entry could be around the same.  You don’t have to qualify to race but of course you must have a masters license and race your correct age category.   Here are the cats of the races held this year but the maybe more or less because it depends on turn out.   In Praloup the organisers merged the women’s cats because less than five signed on.

As for the venue it’s hard to think of a venue that as parking and accommodation to host this size event.  Only 18 months to go too.  One of the lads on Irish DH mentioned Rostrevor there could certainly be worthy savage XC & DH courses there.

I'm getting a DH bike for this one :)
I do gap jumps, Sam Hill does gap jumps, we have a lot in common!

Rostrevor ... The XC should be across Wicklow ! Start in Powerscourt, the choice/directions are endless.

Castlewellan would be great for the XC
You're so wise. You're like a miniature Buddha, covered in hair.

The two races are held in the same venue normally.  This removes a lot of possible sites.  I’m sure Cycling Ireland have a few places in mind.  If Bord Failte are backing this that could open a few closed doors.  Glendalough would be amazing ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if it was maghermourne. Seeing as they now have permission.

Castlewellan would be a super venue for the XC alright, but as James says - the DH will have to be in the same place.

Powerscourt/Dhouce would be awesome too.

If it is, right in the middle of the race some Dub will arrive and start complaining "I've been walkin' me dog here for twenty nine years..."

I have very little time to get to the gym, so I have to sculpt my guns at the office
