Hello there
Ok folks - see below important info on licences for this event;
CI = Cycling Ireland.
Licences fees are used to cover the cost of insurance for these events.
Race entry fees re used to cover costs such as promotion, race number plates, admin costs etc..
If you do not have any type of Cycling Ireland licence, you will need to purchase a 1-day licence at a cost of €20 on the day (if you were born after 31st December 1993 then the 1-day licence is
€5)
But!
If you have not previously had a Cycling Ireland licence then
this €20 fee will include the cost of obtaining a 2010 basic (Non-Competition) licence.
Your details will be recorded on the day (or requested from you via your email address if you have registered via the
Online Registration system) and then you will need to send some form of photo ID into the CI office and your licence application will be processed and posted to you.
Thus, if you enter another race, as a CI member, you will only be paying €10 for your 1-day licence (as opposed to €20 for non-members)
If you have a 2009 CI licence you can use it for this race on 21 Feb.The reason being that there is a backlog of 2010 licence applications in the CI office that have not yet been cleared.
Depending on the type of licence you have, you may or may not need a 1-day licence.
If you have a full competition or offroad/restricted licence, then you do not need a 1-day licence.
If you just have a basic CI members licence, then you will need to purchase a 1-day race licence at a cost of €10.
(if you were born after 31st December 1993 then the 1-day licence is
free)
The way to spot what kind of licence you have is to look at the 3rd and 4th characters in the licence number (your licence number should be at the bottom of your licence card - eg; 09OM0011)
If the 3rd/4th characters are in the list below then you will need to purchase a 1-day licence at the cost of €10:
- NC (Non-Competition)
- CM (Club/Cycling Member)
- SM (Standard Member)
This link also helps explain.
Note that CM (Club/Cycling Member), SM (Standard Member) have been replaced in 2010 by NC (Non-Competition).
Hopefully that explains things a bit better!
