Well that’s the end of the season, what a finish Carrick was bone dry and running fast. I spun around with Rory who was also seeded so started at 10.15 and it was so relaxing just like a Club Spin in the sun (except on the stages when it was ‘hell for leather like’..!), The Trails were well thought out and a nearly completely new stage 3 was cut though a wooded section and was the ‘icing on the cake’ for me anyway, it started in the open with sweeping really fast corners then after two nice drops though fire roads it ending in a technical woody section. I so have to ride it again soon. I had a good steady race (no rounds to drop for me, as I missed one, so I was playing it calm) well that was until I Burped my front tyre at the end of Stage 4 (but managed to ride her to the end with what air was left in it..) a quick pump and it popped back onto the rim so happy days. Now I sort of got carried away at the top of Stage 5 any pulled off some ambitious lines which got me buzzed up only to get crossed up on a gaggle of roots (I parted company with the bike briefly) within sight of the finish… anyway not too much time lost as I hit the top section as good as I reckon I could ever do it.
It was a great showing from IMBRC with Gary, Paul, Ed, Duffman, Ian, Pete, Rob, Rory (and Ben), Gary got 3rd and Myself, Paul & Rory were all 6th (666) gulp..!! the two fastest IMBRC’s were Paul & Rory who matched each others times exactly (to the 100th of a second) never seen such close racing.
