How much and what to look out for newbie needs bike.
« on: January 23, 2012, 02:43:30 PM »
So I've only been out 6 or 7 times and I usually rent a bike off biking.ie
I am more or less 6ft tall
I like down hill alot.
I was out saturday with everyone and was in medium group, they said I was able for advanced group but I was happy with the group I was in.
Would hard tail do me?
I will probably be heading back to canada in two months so will a bike be easy enough to sell on?
How much is enough to pay for something decent?
I am thinking go second hand?
Were is good place too look?

If your going down the 2nd route you would prob get a decent HT for €700-€1000 and maybe a little more for a full suss. There are bargins to be had these days in the 2nd hand market.

As far as selling it on.! If you have something half decent and the price is right you should be able to sell it on easy enough.
Check out epicmtb or madmtb, theres always someone selling something there. Or even adverts.ie and boards.ie

If your on a budget, hardtail is the way to go, you'll get a lighter bike and better spec for the money.
Some online retailers might still have good deals on new 2011 bikes in stock which you can get really good discounts.
