Plenty of great moments today, though more for spectators than racers. Pit crews had the worst job so those of us who raced and were our own pit crews deserve double kudos! Watching the B race was definitely the highlight. These guys were trying to ride the whole off camber grassy muddy mess providing quite the spectacle for those of us watching. Think CX on ice! Later racers definitely learned from what they saw and ran the tough parts making for much less comedic racing. Brian Crinion had a nice 9th in the B's in IMBRC blue. Rose brought home the first medal of the day, bronze in the ladies. Adam had a tough poorly timed puncture which put paid to his chances. Anto took the U23 silver, but possibly more impressive is the fact that he also finished 11th in the elite race! Niall Davis provided the highest racing suspense today in an IMBRC skinsuit, riding neck in neck for third the entire elite race with Evan Ryan only to get barely nudged off the podium in the final run up to the line.
Unfortunately we vets let down the side a little. I was talking to Joe before the start, with 4 of us in the M40's we had a pretty good shot at at least a top 10; and wouldn't you know we came in lined up 11th, 12th, 13th, and 15th at the finish! Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades........
