Racing / Cyclocross Nationals Postponed....
« on: January 07, 2010, 05:55:58 PM »
Folks,

With great regret I have to announce that we will be cancelling the National Cyclocross Championships this coming weekend. A provisional date has been set as the 31st of January in the same location, however this is provisional to the park letting us use their facilities again. A second date of the 7th of February is also being looked at as a fall back.

As we all know weather conditions have deteriorated and it has made it near impossible for public and private transport for many of us throughout the country and the county. Many riders have been in personal contact letting me know that they would not be able to travel to the race due to the weather.

A decision made between the organisation committee, Off Road Commission, and College of Commissars to postpone the event today in light of conditions and a similar decision in the UK, and as we want to promote this race to all CI riders we needed to make this decision.

However the clouds do have a silver lining. If anyone is interested in riding the course in what can only be described as pristine cyclocross conditions, I would invite you to join me at the sign on area at 11am on Sunday morning. Plan is to do a few laps, then retire for coffee and cake. No licence required. I’ll be wearing DCU kit and looking eager.

Yours in sport,

Greg May, Dublin City University Cycling Club

General Discussion / Getting a licence
« on: March 21, 2008, 10:43:53 AM »
To get a licence for the first time you need to sign up to cycling ireland and choose imbrc as the club which you will be representing. So first of all, follow the link below:

Cycling Ireland Membership

Fill in the details, selecting IMBRC as your club, what type of membership you would like (most riders will only need an off road licence) and submit the information.

I will then vet you account with IMBRC and you will be sent a link in an email of where to pay for you licence online or you can send Cycling Ireland a cheque.

Any problems, give me a shout.

Cheers.

« on: November 01, 2007, 11:56:29 PM »
This Sunday 4th of November the fourth round of the Ulster league will be held at Lisburn City Council Headquarters, The Island Centre Lisburn, who are kindly supporting the race.
The event run by Dromara Cycling Club was the best supported race in 2006 and once again this popular course should attract the crowds, despite the fact that Cycling Ulster have decided to hold their AGM at the same time.
Dromara CC would like to invite all Irish cyclists, espically the MTB riders and underage to come and enjoy this spectacular short circuit type of race.

The Course has been extended on last year, allowing a total of 1.5 miles of mostly fast flowing circuit, including the lagan tow path.
The Cyclo Cross race at Lisburn will be for cyclo cross bikes only with a separate race being held for mtb riders as well as races for U-8, U-10 and U-12 riders etc.

Designed by Trevor Annett, the course is very sheltered and scenic, set along both sides of the river Lagan. .Anyone wanting to sample Off Road cycle racing, the cyclo cross and mtb events are the perfect ways to get started.
