Great day out today, Myself, Ger, Matt, Ed + Bro Barry, Alan F and Rose.
Tough going as ever and being a bit wet gave it the extra touch of toughness  :o

Felt good myself throughout, but struggled big time with the bike for some reason, Felt like I had too much air in tyres which made for a lot of silly mistakes, seems though that this was the case with a few I spoke to so who knows!

Was expecting to finish in 4hrs, and think I did it in 4:09. Broke my chain at 27k which likely added a few mins to finish time.

Bit of luck now there'll be a Marathon champs to look forward too  :-X

Yeah great day out. I forgot how tough it is. I had a mixed race.

Stopped to give Ed a hand at the start with his chain it got stuck between the two chainrings.

My saddle bag(cheapo lidl crap) kept coming off the bike. Had to stop and fix it numerous times. Eventually cable tied it thanks to some ties donated by Rose! Then the zipper undid itself and emptied my phone wallet and car keys on the trail over a 100 meters. I had to go back and search for the bits. Luckily one of the blokes found the keys. Bag is now in the bin!

Managed to finish in 4:27. Would have been a little quicker without the issues but that's racing.

Some day alright, soft ground and scorchio weather made for tough going, got a few short bursts of cramp but kept it under control, you could see lads going down with it as if they were being shot by snipers :)
Thanks to Matt and Barry for stopping to help me with the mechanical. Not a great finish time but a good day on the bike in a lovely part of the country, nice to see such big numbers out for it.

Well done lads.

Sounds like similar conditions to a few years ago.  Soft ground and hot day made for tough going
