For a good introduction to the sport of adventure racing (minus the kayaking) the Ballyhoura Blitz is the way to go.


This year’s Ballyhoura Blitz has been re invented to create something different. The start of the race will begin in Kilfinane

town square and you will run 10km over undulating terrain towards the Ballyhoura MTB trail centre. From there you will be brought on 30km loop of MTB of what consists of single track and mixed terrain and what can only be described as real adventure. You can expect to get wet, mucky, sore, tired and be happy(afterwards).

 

‘All bikes will be left at the Ballyhoura trail head at a enclosed transition area. You can also leave your cars, shower clothing etc. at the trailhead and you will be bused to Kilfinane town 3 miles away and from here you will run through a marked way through forestry, gravel roads etc ...

 

You can then pick up your bikes when you check in and you will cycle along a marked route which consists of 40% single track 60% of enjoyable soul searching biking. This will then return you to the finish area at the car park of the Ballyhoura MTB trailheads ‘

 

BUT remember that any of TRAILRIDERS races always are unpredictable so it’s never over till it’s over, no matter how close

you are to the trailhead...
