General Discussion / National Trail Advocacy Group

Hi all.  Below is an email from Bryan Conlon of Northwest MTB Club in Sligo.  He is putting together a working group to give  Irish mountain bikers a unified voice when it comes to input into the use of newly announced funds for the "International mountain biking proposition".  I'm sure this is very worthwhile and in the long run could be very interesting for the sport in general. Sometimes it's all about the big picture.....If anyone is interested in more information from him in attending the meeting in Sligo on the 13th let me know:

Good afternoon,

Firstly to introduce myself, my name is Bryan Conlon and I am the chairman of the North West Mountain Bike Club based here in Co. Sligo.
 
With the recent announcement of 13.6 million in funding to create an “international mountain biking proposition” in Ireland consisting of four national trail centers we felt it was time for mountain bikers to have a strong, unified voice when it comes to trail development, trail design and what needs to be delivered by today's standards.

I would like to propose a preliminary meeting to get a working group together with the end goal of improving Irish trail standards.

Agenda
1. Introductions
2. Establish main objectives
3. Discuss main issues/roadblocks at present
4. Discuss potential solutions/strategies (done in small groups to be summarized and presented)
5. Establish working group/roles
6. AOB

Meeting Location: Sligo Park Hotel
Meeting Date: Saturday April 13th
Meeting Time: 11:00am

Please RSVP with a maximum of 2 representatives from each club.

To make the trip even more worth while we will be organising a spin after the meeting in our local woods so make sure to bring your bike.

Refreshments will be provided on the day.

Racing / 2019 Enduro Club League: News and Dates

There is some exciting news for our Enduro League this summer:  We have 2 new Enduro Reps to co-ordinate the League! A big welcome to Emmet Kelly and Dave Coyne have volunteered to to make sure everything run smoothly.  I can't imagine a better pair to run things and I'm sure they'll get all the support they need for another successful season in Slade.

Dates for the 2019 Enduro League are as follows:

June 25th - Enduro Trails Prep Night
July 2nd to August 20th - Rounds 1 - 8 of the Enduro Club League in Slade Valley


The Club Champs will be run right after the end of the League either one of the last 2 weekends in August of the first weekend in September TBC.

Roll on those long summer nights!

Racing / 2019 XC Club League: News and Dates

Spring is in the air already and that means it's time to start looking forward to the start of our Club Leagues in April.  It'll be here before we know it!

First of all, the big news on the XC front is that our defending League Champ, Adrian Connell has volunteered to be the XC Rep and will be in charge of co-ordinating the everything from trail preparations to timing He will be needing full support from everyone, so be sure to step up where you can. A big welcome to the organizing committee Adrian!

The Dates for 2019 are as follows:

April 2nd - XC Trail Prep Night
April 9th - League Prologue Hillclimb (with points counting towards the overall League table)
April 16th - June 18th XC Club Leagues Rounds 1 - 10 in Slade Valley

The Club Champs will be held either on the weekend of the 24/25th of August,  31st of August/1st September or the 7th/8th of September TBC.
